Nibiru, or Planet X, is a myth brought forth in the last century, based initially on the writings of  Zecharia Sitchin.Coming from Sitchin's unique and controverial  translations of various Babylonian and Sumerian texts, is the idea that there are two previous unknown planets: Tiamat and Nibiru.     

      Tiamat supposedly existed between Mars and Jupiter. He postulated that it was a thriving world in a much differently shaped solar system, with jungles and oceans, whose orbit was disrupted by the arrival of a large planet or very small star (less than twenty times the size of Jupiter) which passed through the solar system between 65 million and four billion years ago. The new orbits caused Tiamat to collide with one of the moons of this object, which is known as Nibiru. The debris from this collision are thought by the theory's proponents to have variously formed the asteroid belt, the Moon, and the current inclination of the planet Earth.

     To the Babylonians, Nibiru was the celestial body associated with the god Marduk (possibly Jupiter). Sitchin hypothesized it as a planet in a highly elliptic orbit around the Sun, with an assumed orbital period of about 3750 years.

     Nibiru, in Babylonian Astronomy translates to "Planet of Crossing" or "Point of Transition", a term of the highest point of the ecliptic, i.e. the point of summer solstice, and its associated constellation, Gemini.  Its cuneiform sign was often a cross, or various winged disc. The Sumerian culture was located in the fertile lands between the Euphrates and Tigris rivers, at the southern part of today's Iraq.

     As the highest point in the paths of the planets, Nibiru was considered the seat of the summus deus who pastures the stars like sheep, in Babylon identified with Marduk, the ruler of the cosmos.

     Over the past 30 years or so, an evolution took place. First we had a mysterious asteroid or light cluster, moving toward the the Earth. It was prophesied to pass near the Earth or perhaps hit it.

     This then became an actual planet, many light years away, which apparently was invisible.

     As this mysterious, giant planet drew closer, it evolved into Nibiru. a planet of vengeance, still as yet unseen. Various unfulfilled dates were given for its nearest approach.

     The very existence of Nibiru was debunked years ago by a senior space scientist for NASA.

"In the inner solar system, we see planets with stable orbits, we see the moon going around the Earth,"

     NASA scientist David Morrison explains in a video from 2012 titled Nibiru Does Not Exist. "The very existence of this stability in the inner solar system proves that no rogue planet, no interfering object has come through the inner solar system in at least a million years.

     "Please get over it," Morrison added. "We don’have to worry about this hoax."
